03 February 2012
The Gravesham Consortium has been rewarded for its excellence in providing the Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (C&BE) at an awards ceremony which took place in London yesterday.
The Awards, which were developed by Sector Skills Council CITB-ConstructionSkills as part of their Rewarding Diplomas Awards, saw the Gravesham Consortium scoop the new ‘Top Provider’ award for its excellence in delivering the Diploma, its collaboration with businesses and commitment to providing the qualification.
The Consortium have been delivering the C&BE Diploma at all levels since 2008 and was awarded the prize because of its impressive achievements and flexible approach to delivering the Diploma as well as successes on grades, student progression and overall support for students.
Pauline Blayney, Project Manager, who received the award on behalf of the consortium at CITB-ConstructionSkills’ London office said:
“We are delighted to have been recognised as an outstanding provider of the Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. The award goes to prove that as well as the teaching of practical skills, employer engagement and work experience are vital elements in giving young people a well-rounded educational experience.
“We hope to continue developing young people who can breathe new life into the UK construction industry, helping it to stay innovative and competitive in challenging times.”
Nick Gooderson, Head of Education and Research at CITB-ConstructionSkills and representing the Diploma in C&BE Partnership, said:
“The Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment is recognised industry-wide as an extremely valuable qualification and a benchmark of quality for those entering the industry. In addition, it provides a pipeline of quality talent for an industry which constantly relies on innovation and fresh approaches.
“Since its inception in 2008, the Diploma has supplied the industry with hundreds of talented new recruits. By working in partnership with Diploma providers like the Gravesham Consortium, we can ensure that our learners are properly supported, engaged, and able to avail of the practical skills and knowledge they need to progress further.
“It’s important therefore to recognise the value and outstanding achievement of the Diploma providers and individuals who work so hard drive quality and standards in the Diploma.”
Former provider Powerwave were also awarded a certificate from CITB-ConstructionSkills in recognition of their contribution to the Diploma and Pauline Blayney was commended for her personal commitment and dedication.
Nick Gooderson said: “Pauline’s personal commitment to delivering the Diploma has been unwavering. Her determination and can do attitude are a key part of Gravesham’s success story. I’d like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication over the past four years.”
