Future Skills Unit Objectives
- Provide a leadership role on future skills issues relating to the construction industry, working with:
- Employers
- other built environment Sector Skills Councils
- government departments and key agencies
- Link with and support a number of projects to enable ConstructionSkills to gain a better understanding of emerging and changing skills requirements and the impact on training and qualification responses
- Use Construction Skills Network and other forecasting and research expertise to enable ConstructionSkills to provide an authoritative analysis for our sector on future skills needs
- Identify and work with industry and other key stakeholders when it is appropriate to develop new qualifications to support future skills needs and to work with the Qualifications and Standards Team to put them in place
- Develop networks of industry experts, key stakeholders, funders and providers, to identify future skills needs and ways of nurturing and supporting leading edge skills development until it becomes part of the mainstream
- Ensure that ConstructionSkills has sufficient internal expertise and knowledge with access to specialist external expertise. There should be particular emphasis on innovation and sustainability, to enable it to respond to the needs of industry.
