In the last five years, we have made a real difference to the industry. We have encouraged a training culture in Scotland and in 2008, a record number of employers claimed grants to pay for skills training. We have also used our links with the Scottish Government to appeal for support to fast track planning applications. 

  1. We have worked with the Scottish Government to fast track planning applications and we have brought forward £100m of spending through the Affordable Housing Investment Programme.
  2. In Scotland we have supported the Skills for Work Construction Crafts award which is delivered in schools, employer workplaces and FE centres across Scotland.
  3. We have helped to develop heritage skills in Scotland by signed a memorandum of understanding with Historic Scotland and SQA.
