Case Study: Women in Construction

women in construction

Scotland’s annual Women in Construction Conference promotes the huge variety of careers open to women in construction. Over 100 women from all over Scotland attended the 2008 conference, with 75% signing up to the associated bebo website to access more information.

Joanne Fuller, Construction Manager with Morgan Ashurst, said:

“I attended the very first Women in Construction Conference and was inspired by it so much that I decided to pursue the idea. I now have a successful career in the industry and a job I adore!

“For me, the conference helped to dispel the myth that the industry is a male bastion. I have come across many other women in my job who have various roles in the industry including painters and decorators, joiners, architects or engineers, and this is echoed by the amount of women who have come to the conference to encourage these girls to get involved.”
