Curriculum Support

Construction & the Built Environment play an essential role in all our lives. It is therefore important that students and young people have the opportunity to understand the impact that Construction & the Built Environment have on them, their families, their communities and the broader global context.

Through studying Construction & the Built Environment students can develop their knowledge, understanding and skills by looking at the design of the built environment; the creation of the built environment; and how we value and use the built environment.

The very nature of construction means that it provides an exciting, thought provoking stimulus that can motivate and captivate students of all ages.

ConstructionSkills work through extensive networks that support the development of partnerships between industry and education. These partnerships provide support for the development of construction qualifications whilst adding value to the construction industry. ConstructionSkills partners include professional bodies, national and local construction companies, schools, colleges of FE, EBPs, and organisations willing to enable students to explore Construction & the Built Environment.

ConstructionSkills is currently working in partnership across the country to:

  • Support the development of the Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment.

  • Support the development of the Young Apprenticeship programme aimed at 14-16 year olds.

  • Promote construction qualifications in schools in support of the 14-19 agenda.

  • Promote opportunities in the sector to encourage a more diverse community to view construction as the career of choice.

  • Work with companies to develop and promote the Construction Ambassador Scheme.
