Introduction to Levy & Grant

As an 'Industry Training Board' CITB-ConstructionSkills is given powers by the Government to collect an annual levy which we use to provide training grants - and a range of other services - to support the UK construction industry.

Benefits to the industry

It’s our job to increase training and skills within the industry. To do this we:

• reduce skills shortages
• improve business performance
• bring a diverse range of people to the industry
• improve learning for apprenticeships, higher and further education
• develop professional occupational standards

…which we do by providing:

• Grants for training
• Company Development Advisers who visit employers, providing advice on how to get the best from their workforce
• Apprenticeships which combine college learning with on-site experience
• A range of other services including recognised qualifications, assessment and training support services
• Industry recognised card schemes

Getting access to the Levy & Grants Scheme

If you are a GB based construction business/employer you should be registered with CITB-ConstructionSkills. This registration will enable access to the scheme along with a wide range of other funding and support services.

Once your business is registered you will be required to complete an annual Levy Return, but you will also then be able to claim Grant. Both these activities are easier and faster if carried out on-line.
