Supported training

Grant is available for attendance on the following courses within the Site Safety Plus range:

  • 1 day ConstructionSkills' Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course
  • 2 day Site Sustainability course
  • 1 day Health and Safety awareness course
  • 1 day Achieving behavioural change course

The course must be managed and run by a ConstructionSkills approved centre to be eligible for grant aid. Search for contact details of approved training providers and for further information about Site Safety Plus or contact your local ConstructionSkills office.

For the 5 day SMSTS and PMSTS grant supports courses of 37½ hours duration that comply with the scheme rules.

What training is not supported?

Grant is not available for attendance on the above courses through either the Training and Development Plan or the Short Duration off-the-job training route and duplicate claims will be rejected. 

How much can I claim?

For courses which run between the 1st October 2011 and the 31st March 2012 a short term initiative has been agreed by the CITB-ConstructionSkills Training Committee to increase Site Safety Plus grant to a rate of £52.50 per day.

CITB-ConstructionSkills' Board is due to meet on 18th April 2012 to consider a proposal to extend the increase in the daily rate of £52.50 to the 31st July 2013. In the meantime all attendance will continue to be paid at £52.50 per day.

For courses which run between the 1st August 2011 and the 30th September 2011 grant will be paid at a rate of £17.50 per day.

Grant is also payable for any additional days training which are required to complete the qualification, providing that the Site Safety Plus criteria are met.

You will receive an additional 22% Supplementary Payment if you are eligible. This includes a basic rate of 10% plus an additional 12% bonus. 

How to claim

  • if you inform your training provider of your seven-digit CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy & Grant registration number at the time of booking your course, then an automatic claim form may be issued to you on completion of your training. You must sign this form and return it CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy & Grant Shared Services by 31 October 2012 to receive your grant. 
  • If you do not receive a pre-populated grant claim form within four weeks of the course completion date then you should download and complete a GC1 claim form or contact your local ConstructionSkills office for a copy. Complete this form and send it to CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy & Grant Shared Services by 31 October 2012 to claim grant. Claims received after this date will be rejected.  

Eligibility

This grant supports employees, labour-only sub-contractors and agency staff in construction-related occupations only.

The grant is not available to support employees in non-construction related occupations.
