Supplementary Payment

Supplementary Payment for employers who contribute to Levy funds

This is an additional Supplementary Payment of 22% of the published grant value (a basic rate of 10% plus a 12% bonus), made to employers who contribute to CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy funds that are used to pay CITB-ConstructionSkills grants to promote training within thettruction industry.

What training qualifies?

Apprentices and Craft Non Apprentice trainees who started their training within the 2010/2011 Grants Scheme, and met the Supplementary Payment criteria by the 31st July 2010, would have received 10% Supplementary Payment on attendance and achievements gained during the Grants Scheme year. From the 1st August 2011 the higher 22% rate of Supplementary Payment will be paid on all apprenticeship grant payments made after this date, providing eligibility criteria continue to be met.

Apprentices and Craft Non Apprentice trainees who started their training and registered for grant support before 1st August 2010 will continue to receive Supplementary Payment at 25%, if the employer is eligible, for the duration of the training.

To qualify for this payment all of the following three conditions must be met on or before the 31st July 2011:

  • A 2010 CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy return must have been completed that requires you to pay an assessment to CITB-ConstructionSkills.
  • You must have paid this assessment, which was sent to you in February 2011, in full or be paying by Direct Debit instalments.
  • Your correctly completed 2011 Levy return must have been received by the CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy section.

Employers who do not pay an assessment as their labour-only receipts exceed their payroll and labour-only payments, may also qualify for Supplementary Payment.

Supplementary Payment will be made at the same time as the grant is paid. The Grant Payment Advice will itemise payments made.

If you miss the 31st July 2011 deadline, Supplementary Payments will be forfeited for:

  • all grants you might claim under the 2011/2012 CITB-ConstructionSkills Grants Scheme
  • all apprentice grant payment made to you for attendance paid and achievements awarded during the grant year (irrespective of their year of start).
