A07 - Skills Testing
The skills test is a practical test which allows candidates to demonstrate their abilities in the skills required to perform their appropriate trade tasks in order to gain Industry recognition. Grant is available for passing a ConstructionSkills approved skills test in the following trades:
- Bricklayer
- Built-up Felt Roofer
- Carpenter and Joiner
- Ceiling Fixer
- Floor Layer
- Glazier
- Mastic Asphalter
- Painter and Decorator
- Plasterer (Fibrous)
- Plasterer (Solid)
- Roof Sheeter and Cladder
- Roof Slater and Tiler
- Shopfitter
- Steeplejack
- Stonemason
- Wall and Floor Tiler
- Woodmachinist
- Electrical Fitter (Allied Trades) - STAT 2 *
- Electrician - AM 2 *
- Fencer *
- Heating and Ventilation Fitter - HV 2 *
- Relocatable Partitioner *
- Thermal Insulation Engineer *
What is the status of trainees supported?
Apprentices and employees only.
What is the status of trainees not supported?
Labour-only sub-contractors and agency staff.
How much is the grant?
You will receive £300 for each Skills Test.
You will also receive an additional 25% supplementary payment automatically if you are eligible.
This rate may be reduced if sufficient Levy funding was not available. This is only likely to take effect in exceptional circumstances.
How do I claim?
A pre-populated GC1/1 claim form will be sent to you automatically for most trades. You will need to sign the form and return it to the CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy & Grant Department, Bircham Newton, Norfolk, PE31 6RH.
For trades marked with a * please download and complete a GC1 claim form when you have received confirmation that your employee has passed their skills test. You will need to attach a copy of the pass confirmation letter to the claim form. You will need to sign the form and return it to the CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy & Grant Department at the address above.
Is there a closing date?
For tests passed within the 2008/2009 CITB-ConstructionSkills Grants Scheme year, your claim must be received no later than the 31st October 2009. Claims received after this date will be rejected.
