Girls into construction

Designed to encourage girls in Year 8 to be interested and involved in construction skills, breaking down the stereotypes that construction is only for boys while also giving the students an idea of what college life is like.

There will be 30 students, 6 girls attending from 5 schools all over the Island.

The girls will take part in practical activities during the morning in five areas of construction, to include brick laying, wood work, painting & decorating, electrical and plumbing.

Students will receive lunch on the day and be presented with certificates of attendance detailing the events they have taken part in during the day.  Following lunch, female guest speakers from the construction industry will present their experiences from working in the trade.
