Details
To mark the launch of its new technical guide on peg tiling, SPAB (The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) is to hold a dedicated afternoon event in February at which Peter Minter of Bulmer Brick & Tile Co and guide author Ray Harrison will explore the history, manufacture, specification and construction of peg tile roofs.
Followed by an in-depth Q & A session, this informal and informative event is intended a useful resource for architects, surveyors, engineers, builders and conservation officers and owners of peg tiled properties. All delegates will receive a copy of SPAB’s new Peg Tiling technical guide as part of the information pack sent before the event.
Peg tiles are most commonly seen on roofs in the South East and East Anglia, their distinctive colour and texture adding to the character of the built landscape of those areas.
Peg Tiling will be the first course of the 2009 season organised by the SPAB technical team. Future courses next year include: timber frame panelling, lead theft, historic plain glazing, sandstone repairs and penetrating damp. SPAB’s highly respected technical courses are led by specialists at venues throughout the country and feature case studies, question and answer sessions and the chance to explore the subjects covered in the company of interested, like-minded fellow professionals.
Courses are suitable for CPD (continued professional development).
