The Built on Success event, which was held at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, was attended by key figures in the Welsh construction industry including special guest Deputy Minister for Skills John Griffiths AM. More than 250 people enjoyed the ceremony which was presented by Nigel Walker, Head of Sport for BBC Wales and ex Rugby Union and Wales player.

Deputy Skills Minister John Griffiths said: "These awards reflect superb achievements and set a great example for the sector, and for Welsh companies of all kinds. David Stowell of DDS General Builders received the title of Construction Ambassador of the Year for his commitment to inspiring young learners to explore a career in the construction and built environment sector.

During the event, ConstructionSkills also presented the Welsh Woman in Construction and Built Environment Award to Jane Boyes of Boyes Rees Architects and finalists Liane Sheppard of Capita Glamorgan Consultancy and Ann-Marie Smale of Powell Dobson as well as honouring eight companies who have shown exceptional commitment to the progression of the industry in Wales.

Pembrokeshire College was also highly commended in the Sustainability category for its attainment of BREEAM excellence in both the design and post construction assessment of its new Construction Technology Centre and Lovell Partnership was highly commended in the Investing in the Future category for providing work experience placements and the development of the Lovell House Project.
