Fairness, inclusion & respect in the construction industry

We live in a diverse society that is both multicultural and multilingual. Everyone is different and has something different to bring to society and the workplace.

The Construction industry is no different and requires a variety of different skills and abilities. It is important that people from different backgrounds and life experiences are employed to enable us to achieve the high standards needed to become industry world leaders.

Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (equality and diversity) are a key feature of this process, with CITB-ConstructionSkills striving to attract and support the best workers to the construction industry, regardless of their background.

Information on our Equality Standard Accreditation

In November 2010, CITB ConstructionSkills was awarded the Equality Standard from Equality North East.

The Standard was awarded to recognise that CITB-ConstructionSkills promotes good equality and diversity practices in the workplace and across the construction training and built environment sector.

Our work to improve equality and diversity practices is on-going and can be seen in our Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan.
