Booking a test
The easiest way to book a Health, safety and environment test is either online or by telephone.
Our terms and conditions may be reviewed before you book the test.
To book your test you can:
- go online (you will need to register your details before you book your test)
- telephone 0344 994 4488 (lines open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday 8am to noon)
You will be given the date and time of your test straight away and will have it confirmed by email or through the post. You can also choose to receive an SMS text message or email reminder 24 hours before the test.

What information do I need to book a test?
To book a test you should have the following information to hand:
- which test you need to take
- whether you require any additional assistance
- your chosen method of payment - debit/credit card or a voucher purchased from our online store *
- your address details
- your CITB-ConstructionSkills regsitration number (you will have one of these if you've taken the test before, or applied for certain card schemes including CSCS, CPCS, CISRS etc)
Where can I take the test?
To sit the Health, safety and environment test you will need to visit a CITB-ConstructionSkills' approved test centre. There are three different types of centre:
- a fixed test centre operated by our delivery provider. To find the nearest test centre you will need to complete the first part of the test booking form.
- an independent Internet Test Centre - operated by a college, training provider or commercial organisation (contact these test centres directly to book a test)
- a corporate testing unit which can be established at a suitable venue for a group of candidates (call the dedicated booking line 0344 994 4492 or review further information about corporate tests).
Special assistance
- All tests can be booked with English and Welsh voice-overs on request
- The operatives test can be booked with voice-overs in the following languages: German, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian. An interpreter can be requested if assistance is required in other languages.
- The specialist tests can be booked with an interpreter but no pre-recorded voice-overs are available.
- The managers and professional test does not allow foreign language assistance because a basic command of English or Welsh is required in order to pass the test.
- The operatives test can also be booked in British Sign Language on screen. If you need assistence in the other tests a signer can be provided.
If you need any other special assistance (such as reader, signer, interpreter or extra time) this can be provided but only at a fixed test centre and you will need to book through a dedicated booking line 0344 994 4491.
If you are under 16
You will need to take a completed parental consent form with you to your test and you will need to contact our customer service centre on 0344 994 4488 for assistance with your booking.
What services are there for Welsh speakers?
All tests can be booked with Welsh voice-overs and all revision DVDs include Welsh voice-overs. You can call the dedicated Welsh booking line on 0344 994 4490 for more information.
How do I cancel or reschedule my test?
To cancel or reschedule your test you should go online or call the booking number at least 72 hours (three working days) before your test, otherwise you will lose your fee.
What if I do not receive a confirmation email/letter?
If you do not receive a confirmation email or letter within the time specified please call the booking line to check your booking has been made. We cannot take responsibility for postal delays. If you miss your test booking, you will unfortunately forfeit your fee.
