The National Skills Academy for Construction is a new approach to managing skills and training needs on large construction projects. The aim is to help employers maintain the right skills on site to be able to deliver projects on time, to a high quality and to budget.
Employers agree to set up on-site learning centres to help to train local people in the specific skills required for the particular project type and phase. The centres can also be used to raise the skills of the existing members of the workforce.
The project-based approach puts the focus on employers and their specific training and skills needs. It will ensure that relevant training is delivered on each site, maintaining maximum productivity and supporting the whole supply chain to deliver projects on-time and to budget.
