Current challenges

In the face of today’s current economic climate you have to decide whether to batten down the hatches or to continue investing in your company so that you are well equipped for the up-turn.

It’s a tough decision to make – weighing survival against future opportunities. However the Inspire Scholarship Scheme could be the answer to your problem! It involves making a short term financial investment in a student about to embark on a construction-related degree course with the opportunity to expand your workforce once they have graduated.

The matching process

Students apply online (November-February) via www.bconstructive.co.uk to become an Inspire Scholar. Their applications are rated and then matched with a suitable registered employer. When registering, employers are asked to list the main criteria they are looking for in a potential graduate. Using the set criteria employers are then matched with suitable candidates by ConstructionSkills and are sent suitable application forms (May-June) for them to select who they wish to interview and ultimately whom they would like to offer a scholarship.

Your commitment

Post selection you will be asked to agree a financial sponsorship figure, ranging from £750 to £1,000 per annum, which will be matched by ConstructionSkills. In addition students will be available for a minimum of 10 weeks work experience during each summer break - this is an Inspire benefit and companies can, of course make additional arrangements with their scholar(s).

Extra help from ConstructionSkills

Companies that are ConstructionSkills registered can also claim the A19 work experience grant for each placement offered.

Funding is not available for "out of scope" companies.
