What do you do day-to-day?
Machining, making doors and window frames in the workshop and visiting sites to fit stairs. I work in the workshop for roughly 95% of the time.

What advice would you give prospective students?
Don't be put off because you have no previous experience, or by all the men! My Dad is a carpenter but I started from scratch!

Good bits about your job?
I really enjoy learning new skills and the sense of achievement I get from being able to see my work in place.

Why did you choose this career?
I was not interested in computers and wanted to do something practical. I tried childcare but moved to woodwork after making a desk from my sister. I really enjoy the variety of skills I learnt doing my NVQ.
