Andy Gotts,
Aged 25

Qualifications
B.Eng (Hons) Civil Engineering

What do you do day-to-day?
I get to see a project right the way through from design to construction. I'll work in the office at the design stage, producing drawings and calculations. At the construction phase, I'll go out to site for meetings and to check that what's built is according to my drawings.

Good bits about your job?
Getting out and about and meeting people and seeing my designs built in reality.

Social aspects to your job?
We have social events for the design team, 5-a-side football and an annual golf competition. We go on foreign study visits to see the design and construction of buildings in other countries and to learn from what we see. Last year it was Madrid which was great.

What does the future hold?
I'm planning to sit my professional exams next year and become a chartered structural engineer.

Why did you choose this career?
I was always interested in construction, particularly in how buildings were designed and put together.
