What do you do day-to-day?
I am based at the National Construction College East undergoing practical training, which includes learning about concrete, steel fixing and formwork. These are all aspects of the job that I will be checking when I become a qualified civil engineer.

Why did you choose this career?
We were having an extension done on the house and I was able to see the plans and learn exactly what was going on and I thought it was really interesting so I decided to find out about courses. It's a challenge. I wanted to do something different to all my female friends who were going off to do jobs like nursing.
