What do you do day-to-day?
Everything! I work both on the interior and exterior of buildings. It's not just gloss and emulsion, I do all the preparation work required and then it could be artexing, rag-rolling, sponge effects, all sorts really.

What advice would you give prospective students?
Go for it! The money's good, it's much better paid than a lot of jobs. It helps to have a flair for colour and an artistic eye but you learn everything you need at college or on the job.

Social aspects to your job?
I get to see different places when I'm working away from home, and get invited to opening nights where you meet all sorts of people.

What does the future hold?
Who knows? I might take over from Carol Smillie one day!
