Jacqueline Adu-Baffour
Jacqueline is being sponsored by ConstructionSkills and Carillion on the Inspire Scholarship.
What degree are you studying?
I am doing Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying at the University of Manchester. My course is a four year sandwich course with one year out for an industrial placement. After that I come back to Manchester and do my third year and get a BSc in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying.
Why did you apply for an inspire scholarship?
The scholarship will mean that I gain valuable work experience as well as financial assistance during my course.
Why are you attracted to a career in construction?
I thought getting a job or a degree in the construction industry was a great opportunity. Construction Managers put up something beautiful that can be there forever. You can see it, you can take people to the place and you can claim "I was part of this building."
What do you hope to do in the future?
What do I want to be? I want to have the title Commercial Manager. I would love to work on something big, like a stadium or a tourist attraction as long as it is huge!
