Big Dig, Belfast
Belfast's city centre is currently undergoing a massive overhaul to completely transform the face of the area. It is estimated the series of projects will cost a total of £800 million pounds and will take approximately 5 years to complete.
There are a number of developments being undertaken, which were previously unrelated, but have now joined forces to minimise disruption and create one huge venture.

- Victoria Square will house the largest retail scheme Northern Ireland has ever seen, which will include a 200,000 square foot House of Fraser store.
- There will be a huge glass dome covering shops, restaurants and apartments.
- The former 'speaker's corner' will become an art-adorned public area, with a 4,000 capacity for concerts and conventions.
- Westlink, the chief roadway, will have £75million spent on it's expansion - eventually becoming a motorway with three lanes going each way!
- 185 Acres of former historic ship building land, called the Titanic Quarter, will be transformed into an area for residential housing and commercial units.
- Extensions to the Opera House, costing £9 million, will improve disabled access and increase the currently cramped front-of-house space.
